The tree spy is more of an idea than an individual. Yes, there are people behind this, just as you need people behind anything else, but the idea was born out of the interest in showing the world without filters. This project began with an interest in seeing what was happening in some of the public forests and natural areas around the area.

The first trail cameras were placed along side a small dirt trail (now affectionately known as the “pee trail”) to monitor who was taking the path and see if we could spot some of the local wildlife. We knew that there were deer, foxes and more that wondered down the path and it was an opportunity to watch them.

At the same time, we saw that this area was frequently used as a public bathroom, dump, and even occasionally used for some sexual acts.

Our content was never really intended to be pornographic or sexualized in anyway, but was meant to be just a look into what is normally overlooked. Most people will not notice what is going on just outside of their field of view or pay attention to the world around them. For this reason, we felt we needed to document all this and since we were collecting so much content, we also felt the need to share it with the world.

We started this project in 2016 with our first cameras and it has continued to grow ever since. This is more than an individual as it has grown to more than 6 contributors who offer videos they have captured from around the world. Our primary area is in Europe, but we have videos from Russia, Ukraine, the US and many other locations. We continue to grow our network and look forward to continuing to add videos for years to come.
